ABOUT ME

I am a graduate designer and someone who has
never had a plan to go into politics.
I simply could not picture myself in any of
the established political parties in Denmark.
Yet, it was clear to me, that while our societies
are capable of transformational change,
what we needed was new political movements,
someone who could lead and inspire the old political system
to invent the kind of new and radical systemic ideas that we,
our society, and our planet so desperately need.

And so myself and other dreamers created Alternativet,
to address the need for new thoughts in politics.
To address the need for us to take the globe and each other seriously
– something we need to do to change our society for the better.

This is what I have been working for since I was elected
to the Parliament in 2015 and I will continue to fight for the new,
progressive ideas that we need in the European Parliament.

I do not simply want to manage the society, we know today.
Politics for me is to help create change.

Climate

The climate crisis is our generation’s biggest challenge. But it is also an opportunity to create a more sustainable, fair and entrepreneurial society. Environmental sustainability should be at the forefront of the political agenda for an effective and sustainable change. Such a process of change also has the potential to address inequality – the core root of the anger and lack of solidarity, which characterizes too many of our political decisions today.

Democracy

A well-functioning and dynamic democracy depends on the genuine engagement of citizens – locally, nationally and globally. If we are to implement the measures needed to make a sustainable transition, we need the people’s support and belief that participation and commitment to politics are beneficial. We need a new political culture.

Equality

We live today in a world where the rule of law, democracy and international human rights are under severe pressure. Values that form the foundation of a free, empathic, and just society. I want a society that strives for equality and diversity, where all people are entitled to equal rights and opportunities.

Intro: European Spring

European Spring is the first transnational party to run for the European elections, with a common political program and plan for Europe’s green transition.
European Spring consists of progressive and green movements across the whole of Europe.
We believe that European problems require European solutions, which we can only find together.

Who is European Spring?

European Spring consists of movements and parties from Europe’s north, south, east and west. From the center of Europe, to its islands and most distant regions.
European Spring consists of progressives, democrats, climate fighters and feminists. Of citizens, activists, mayors and elected representatives.
European Spring is DemA from Italy and Razem from Poland. LIVRE from Portugal and Génération.s from France. MeRA25 from Greece and the Alternative from Denmark. And many others.

New Deal for Europe

New Deal for Europe is the first common European political program ever.
It represents the entire European Spring’s joint vision of a democratic and green Europe.
In our New Deal for Europe, we relate to the present Europe of fear, borderlines and national politics.
The European Union we know today has proved unable to solve today’s European and global issues.
It is this frustration of the status quo that, in 2017, brought the many progressive politicians and movements together to start what later became European Spring.
2 years later, we are now ready to present Europe’s first transnational political program to the citizens of Europe.

In our New Deal for Europe, we come up with a number of concrete answers to the most pressing European issues today.
In this you will find, among other things, our bid for a financial plan for the green transition, a democratization of the EU institutions, a policy on migration and labor rights for all Europeans based on the principle of solidarity.

Green New Deal

Green New Deal is the Alternative and European Springs answer to our civilizations greatest threat: the climate crisis. Europe needs a far-reaching plan – a green community contract – where citizens across borders demand we must stop the climate crisis by investing heavily in the green transition.
As the name suggests, we are largely inspired by Roosevelt’s New Deal financial plan, which in the 30s rescued the Americans from a threatening state bankruptcy and community collapse.
The climate crisis is not just a challenge, but also an opportunity to create a more sustainable, fair and entrepreneurial Europe for the benefit of all Union citizens and the rest of the world.

Our Green New Deal includes:

  • A new green investment program worth 500 billion-euro, equivalent to 3 per cent of the EU’s total annual GDP, to be invested annually in the green transition.
  • A binding European climate law to ensure that all member states live up to the Paris agreement.
  • The introduction of a progressive CO2 tax and a reform of the EU CO2 quota system.
  • A reform of the EU agricultural policy to ensure food and resource security, as well as improvements to the environmental sustainability of European agriculture.
  • A European climate court to enforce the member states’ compliance with the new climate law and the national targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction
